ABOUT INTERIM POLICE CHIEF JIM CONROY '15

Before joining the DeKalb County Police Department, Chief Conroy grew up in DeKalb County, graduating from Peachtree High School. He attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police in Boston, Massachusetts.

During his 24 years with the DeKalb County Police Department, Chief Conroy has worked a wide variety of assignments, including assignments in the Uniform Division, North Precinct, Tucker Precinct, Homicide Unit, and Sex Crimes Unit in the Criminal Investigations Division. He has served as the Commander of several areas including the North Precinct, Youth and Sex Crimes Section, Crime Analysis and Research Section, Information Services Division, E911 Director, Chief of Staff, and as the Assistant Chief over the Support Services Division.

Chief Conroy is also very active outside the police department, serving on the executive boards of several organizations, including the Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society, the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta, and DeKalb County Police Athletic League Plus, Inc.

Jim is happily married for over 10 years to his wife Ginger. They have two girls, Reagan age 9 and Reese age 7. They keep him very busy with their cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming and Girl Scouts.
